Philanthropy

The Philanthropy Committee of the Scarsdale Woman’s Club was established in 1924 in order to direct the interests and energies of club members toward charitable activities. Today, Scarsdale Woman’s Club members expend thousands of hours annually performing volunteer work.

The two major volunteer opportunities available to members at the club are Operation Bookshelf and Thrift, both of which operate out of our Carriage House. Since 1954, Operation Bookshelf has distributed over 2 million books.

Through semi-annual Tag & Book Sales, Thrift and Operation Bookshelf sell donated merchandise raising thousands of dollars for donation to local charities with a particular emphasis on those organizations in Westchester that support women and children in need.

Responding to nearby community needs, during the recent pandemic, monthly food collections were also established for donation to a local food pantry.
