PUBLIC PROGRAMS

Opening Teas and most Wednesday programs are open to the public free of charge. For information on last minute changes or weather-driven cancellations, call the Club at (914) 723-0024. Unless otherwise noted, all programs begin at 2 pm.

  7 Thu Membership Drive and Open House: Come learn about The Scarsdale Woman's Club and join us for refreshments (1-4 pm).
  11 Mon Home and Garden Opening Tea: Barbara Shay Mac Donald, “Rowsley History in the Fascinating Days of Early Scarsdale.”
  13 Wed World Cultures and Travel Opening Tea: Program TBA.
  15 Fri Food and Dining Opening Tea: “From the Branch to the Bottle,” presentation and sampling of olive oils by the Twisted Branch Olive Oil and Vinegar Tap Room.
  18 Mon Pottery Opening Coffee: Tour pottery rooms, demonstration in wheel throwing, decorative painting and cleaning green ware.
  26 Tue Art Opening Tea: Eileen Costello, “Festivities, Celebrations & Tributes as Depicted in Painting and Sculpture in Western Art.
  28 Thu Literature Opening Tea: Elaine Freed Lindenblatt, author of Stop at the Red Apple, a memoir about a '50s travelers' favorite stop on the way to the Catskills.
October 2017  
  4 Wed Patrick Rafferty, Westchester Historical Society librarian, will speak on immigration in the County during the last 100 years.
  5 Thu Music Opening Tea: A Musical Potpourri by section performers.
  11 Wed TBA.
  18 Wed Attorney Susan Carroll, director of the Pace Women’s Justice Center, will discuss domestic abuse as a social and personal problem, including financial abuse of the elderly.
  25 Wed Michael Psilakis, Greek-American restaurateur, "Mediterranean Diet."
November 2017  
  1 Wed Marcy Freedman, “Great Women Artists of the 20th Century.
  8 Wed Hon. Lawrence Ecker, Justice of the Westchester Supreme Court, 9th Judicial District, will discuss how the Supreme Court functions.
  16 Wed Talk by violinist Yeou-Cheng Ma (sister of Yo-Yo Ma), and performance with pianist Rita Kuo.
  15 Wed Talk and performance by Aaron Rosand, violin virtuoso and pedagogue. Mr. Rosand will perform solo and in duet with violinist Christina Khimm.
  29 Wed Holidays Through the House - Open House: Entertainment by the Choral Singers, the Scarsdale Middle School Jazz Band, table arrangement displays, pottery exhibit, and a Holiday Boutique with treasures from the attic, wreathes and pottery items for sale (12-4 pm).
December 2017  
  6 Wed Sheela Chari, author of Finding Mighty, returns with her second mystery, this time with a local setting.
  13 Wed "The Story of Hannukah and its Music" will be presented by the very talented Cantor Elizabeth Sternlieb of Sinai Free Synagogue.
January 2018  
  3 Wed Kristen Lu, trained Bodhi meditation practitioner, will lead a 30-minute seated meditation accompanied by music. Q & A to follow.
  10 Wed Professor and author Duane Tannenbaum will discuss his new book Herbert H. Lehman: A Political Biography. The Honorable Herbert Lehman was a governor and senator of New York.
  17 Wed Game Night - 7 pm.
  24 Wed Movie: "Dreams of Equality," a docu-drama focusing on the 1st Women’s Rights Convention in Seneca Falls, NY in 1848, and Elizabeth Cady Stanton's declaration, "all men and women are created equal."
February 2018  
  14 Wed A cappella group Heartfelt will sing "Love Songs Across the Century" to help us celebrate Valentine's Day.
  21 Wed Peter De Lucia, Westchester Dept. of Health, "The Savvy Diner:  What You Need to Know About Food Safety Inspections Before Dining Out."
  28 Wed Presentation on two charities helping women and children in Westchester.
March 2018  
  14 Wed Scott Craven, historian and teacher, will present "Lighthouses and the Hudson."
  21 Wed Gillian Hannum, Art History Professor, Manhattanville: "The Golden Age of Irish Art."

  2 Wed Garden Guru Kent Russell returns with an enter-taining and informative program. Fabulous plants will be available for sale.
  9 Wed "The Suffragettes and Subsequent Women’sLiberation Movement." Barbara Winslow,Prof. Emerita at Brooklyn College and Distinguished Lecturer for the Organization of American Historians.
  16 Wed Frank Felberbaum, President of Memory Training Systems, will offer tips on overcoming forgetfulness, improving recall of names and faces, and enhancing your memory and brain power performance.
